"Innocence", he said, while his eyes fell away and slowly slid their black irises to study the mist-laden woods around him.
"Losing your innocence, is like losing a limb."
The smile that appeared on his lips was neither cold nor warm - it was colourless. Flat.
"You can still live - you can move around. But you will never dance again, not like you once did. You will never run across a meadow without a shadow drifting over your heart."
The eyes returned. Slowly lifting - swaying upwards like birds taking flight.
"She crippled me."
Quiet, for a moment, and then,
"For that, I will cripple -her-."

The woman that he speaks of is none other than Ta'thaniise, Queen of the Dark Fae. He is Jeirehneen, of the Eshreemn.

As for the picture, I had -so- much fun doing this. I'm about as happy with it as I'll get, since I have to get back to work, now, and can't continue playing around ;] One more piece of the puzzle of characters I've created...

I especially like the atmosphere of this painting. The colour is spot on! The "wings/part of the costume" are perhaps too random - the painting might benefit from having another "wing" on the upper left side too (over the characters right shoulder; left from our point of view). Also, the birds stand out perhaps too much from the background. However, don't get me wrong, I really like this one... +5

i LOVE this atmosphere, you can almost feel the murky coolness of the undergrowth.
i havta agree with teh comment above though, my only critique is of the angle of the wings - 3 on the right, 2 on the left? maybe having that wing over his right shoulder would help..
but OMIGOD i love it otherwise

loving your work! - but disagreeing with jounis and qudsielf? - I think no wing on his right, with the angle of his face gives the piece some direction, movement, intent of purpose, whatever you want to call it.

The smal fairy is something you almoste goes by but there it is and it makes the whole painting change frome the first look, hes not lonly anymore kind of feeling

The holes in the wings mirror the dappled lighting effect of the foliage - nice amalgamation of character and environment. Forests are beautiful. So is your painting

I've not been this jealous of another artist's picture in ages. Good grief this is amazing. I'm afraid I don't agree with Jounis "wings too random" comment
- the diagonal composition is superb and the chaotic lacey wings are a great focal point.

I rarely think about voting for images already in elite but hey.. this is an exception.

What can I say - exept "Absolutely Brilliant" - one regret - that you don't have it in a wallpaper resolution - - - - but a fantastic piece of work that is only rivaled by the creative writing that you accompany all your work with! A wonderful job!
