Wow, thank you everyone This picture was puuuuure hell for me. I started out with a very vague idea of -her-. I knew what she'd look like, that she'd hold a harp, but that's about it - so I painted her... and she turned out like I wanted her to, but the ideas on what she should be part of were still not formed. So I doodled, and painted, and tried - and for every new setting and composition I attempted, I messed the image up more. Then, snap, I knew just what the picture was about - and I painted her, slowly added him, detail by detail, but it still looked like crap. It wasn't until I started on the moon that I knew if the picture would work out at ALL or not. It's been a labour of love, and I'm all giddy with the feeling of having worked -so- hard on something, and having it turn out the way part of me had wanted it to, all along - like tragedy, magic and beauty. So, well, anyway - I blabber too much. Thank you everyone - I really appreciate your comments :]

Stunning, beautiful, magic, enchanting, and more endless descriptive adjectives. Linda, your work will forever impress me - when it comes to technique and love for the art. It is art that goes down to the feet by way of the pelvis without paying a call on Mr. Brain. It's art that makes you want to kick down walls and ascend the sky on steps of fire... But. But, I fear that your choice of characters runs in a loop. It's too often these slightly anorexic androgens. How about a chubby angel? A horribly ugly ogre super model? A bearded lady? I can understand your choice of appearance for your characters - they're people everyone everywhere will like because they're asymmetric. You got the power, the magic and the tools to change minds. What stops you from doing it?

I paint what fascinates me - and what fascinates me is androgyny and a certain kind of appearance, at least in art. Like I've said before, I'll leave faces that fascinate other people, to other people. I paint things from my imaginary world, nothing else. And you're wrong - not everyone likes them. I still receive a good deal of hatemail because I paint creatures and people that are genderless. People who call me all manners of name because I 'dare' to question the roles of our sexes. I enjoy playing with views on genders and I'll continue to do exactly that. The moment I start painting things because someone else thinks I should, is the moment I should (and I've said this before) just plain stop what I'm doing. Sorry if you think I'm running in a loop. Personally, I think I'm running down a path of my own choice

I never would have thought death to be so hauntingly beautiful, it is a refreshing change from the usual black caped, scicle wielding, skeletal version of death. I feel like Ereyon, drawn even unto the image. So very archetypal, this image is a wanton gallery of elements and many-layered meanings; I wonder, how many meanings were there that were infused consciously? I did not see Ereyon until a second perusing, concentrating instead upon the three broken harp strings (the harp = half a heart shape) and the correctly configured glints of light captured as they wave about in the gusty air. I first thought that the writing on the harp was runic script, but to be honest, I'm not sure what language (if it is any) it is...perhaps it is a song? I like the way Mehach's hair trails away into the other-world with the souls of the dead reaching out from it, and also how Ereyon's spirit seems to be melding into it. For all his beauty and love, his fate is no different. Death, equalises us all, even if it comes in the guise of a beautiful Siren. Critique-wise, I would say that while we see the night's shining full moon in the background, it leaves me wondering what light source is it that bathes Mehach's frontal beauty? Regards Elysiumfire
